Regular Meeting
June 27, 2016
The Fort Recovery Chamber of Commerce met in regular session on Monday, June 27 at Theinmans.
Members Present: Ted Romer, Randy Diller, PG Jellison, Sue Heiser, Amy Rudy & Megan, Robert Perry, Connor Rammel, Mandy Wendel, Megan Steinberg, Amanda Wyerick & Sandy Keller.
The meeting was called to order by President, Ted Romer.
Grace before meal was given by Ted Romer.
Secretary Report: A motion was made by Sue Heiser to approve the minutes of the May meeting; seconded by Connor Rammel.
Treasurer’s Report: Amanda reported a beginning checking book balance of $2,538.69. Along with receipts totaling $1,514.00 and disbursements totaling $50.00 with a grand total of $10,653.71. Robert made a motion to approve the treasurer’s report seconded by Mandy.
Old Business:
225 Committee: Business and Industry day was a success. The chamber of commerce sponsored tours to 4 local businesses. The tours were well liked by all that participated. Tours consisted of 4 groups of 20 people. It was suggested to organize tours again next year. The Taste of Fort Recovery went well. The vendors reported a steady flow of customers all night long with some selling out of food.
New Business:
Village News: Randy reported the paving on 119 was completed before the 225 Celebration making the town look great. He also noted the Recreational trail grant was submitted and expected to begin later this year. It will consist of an 8ft. asphalt trail. Restroom renovations at Community Park will also take place later this year. Williams Street will see curbs and sidewalks next year.
School News: The Fort Recovery School will see new high school and middle school principals at the start of the school year. Marcus Overman will take the high school principal position and Tony Stahl will become the new middle school principal.
Ambassador Club: This year’s tractor pulls will take place July 29 & 30 at the Ambassador Park.
Project Recovery & Historical Society: The murals are looking great! The mural on Trusty Woods is receiving its final touches. 2 other murals are in progress. It was discussed a mural may go up on the side of Second National Bank.
Veterans Monument: The monument is completed and looks great. If you haven’t yet visited the monument you must go see it. There was a dedication ceremony during the 225 celebration. There will be a dedication taking place at the monument September 11th.
TriStar2.0 Levy: There will be a levy on the August 2nd ballot in regards to building a new TriStar building. This will combine the 6 different locations TriStar is currently operating in. The building will be located across from the Wright State Lake Campus.
Mercer Health: Mandy reported construction for the addition to Mercer Health will take place in February of 2017.
Leadership & Action Program: Mandy talked about the leadership and action program. Anyone can join this group to enhance their leadership skills. The program starts in September and meets once a month. The program is centered around a workbook and includes a service project. Applications are available on the Mercer County Chamber website.
State of the Heart: Amy reported State of the Heart Care has changed their name from State of the Heart Hospice as they are centered around more than just hospice.
With no other business, Randy Diller made a motion to adjourn.
The next meeting is scheduled for July 25, 2016 @Trusty Woods.
