Regular Meeting

July 25, 2016

 

 

The Fort Recovery Chamber of Commerce met in regular session on Monday, July 25, 2016 at Trusty Woods.

 

Members Present: Ted Romer, Joe Faller, Connor Rammel, Sandy Keller, PG Jellison, Bob Fremeyer, Amanda Wyerick, Megan Steinberg, Vicki Delzieth & Mandy Wendel.
The meeting was called to order by President, Joe Faller.

 

Secretary Report: A motion was made by PG Jellison to approve the minutes of the June meeting; seconded by Amanda Wyerick.

 

Treasurer’s Report: Beginning checking balance was $4002.69; ending balance is $4343.91. Fort Recovery Foundation- Scholarship Fund is $6,641.02 plus $25.00 cash on hand. Grand Total is $11009.93.

 

Old Business:

Merchants: There is discussion for holding another Taste of Fort Recovery, Beer & Wine Tasting, Downtown Tours and Business tours again next year leading up to the Jubilee. These events had great success at this year’s 225 Celebration.  Business Tours could include businesses that were unable to participate at this year’s event. It was also noted to hold another Opera Open House and suggested to make a donation box.

 

The next merchants meeting will be held August 9 at Thin Cupboard.

 

Project Recovery & Historical Society: The town has received many compliments on the murals being completed in the downtown area. The building next to Second National Bank has sold. A mural will be painted on the side of Second National Bank. There is discussion on what will be done to the area where the building once was. It was mentioned maybe a gazebo or something of that nature to gather people.

 

Veterans Monument: The Legion and VFW are holding a dedication ceremony September 11th.  They will have military units present as well as vehicles on display. They are in the process of organizing a fly over.

 

New Business:

Fort Recovery Village: Amanda Wyerick noted the bid openings for the Recreational Trail will start this fall or early spring.

 

Ambassadors: Tractor Pulls start this weekend, July 29th & 30th at 7 P.M.

 

Historical Society: Next meeting will be held tomorrow night, July 26th.

 

Community Foundation: Grant recipients will be recognized August 7th at the Van Trees Park.

 

Mercer Health: The Charity Ball will take this place this year on Saturday, November 5th at the Celina Galleria. All proceeds go to the MED Foundation of Mercer Health. Social hour begins at 5:30 with Dinner, Entertainment & Dancing beginning at 7 P.M. Purchase a ticket for a chance to win the 2016 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Coupe. Only 1000 tickets to be sold.

 

Sunday, September 25 at 11 A.M. is the Ground Breaking Ceremony for Mercer Health. Learn more about the expansion project during this celebration.

 

Jay County Hospital: The hospital has the pleasure of introducing 2 new OB employees Dr. Kristy Mounty and Dr. Andrew Stevens. Starting August 1st they will begin providing Obstetrics Care.  

 

With no other business, PG Jellison made a motion to adjourn.

 

The next meeting is scheduled for August 29, 2016 at Trusty Woods.
