Fort Recovery Area Chamber of Commerce

The Fort Recovery Chamber of Commerce met in regular session on Monday, February 29, 2016 at Theinmans.
Members Present: Ted Romer, PG Jellison, Randy Diller, Joe Faller, Amanda Wyerick, Mandy Wendel, Connor Rammel, Megan Steinberg, Sue Heiser, Dan Schmitz & Vicki Delzeith.
The meeting was called to order by President, Ted Romer.
Blessings before meal were given by Ted Romer.
Secretary Report: A motion was made by PG Jellison to approve the minutes of the January meeting; seconded by Randy Diller.
Treasurer’s Report: Amanda Wyerick reported a beginning checking account balance of $3,369.90 and an ending checking account balance of $3,016.84, along with Fort Recovery Foundation Scholarship Fund of $6641.02 and disbursements totaling $511.06. Grand Total is $9675.86. A motion was made by Sue Heiser to approve the treasurer’s report, second by Mandy Wendel.
Ted noted the 225 celebration. He reminded everyone to visit FR225.com for the complete schedule.
Village News: Randy announced there will be work on the water lines at the crossing of the two highways. This is expected to be completed in a few days. There will be utility line extension work on Sharpsburg road. Next Monday, March 7th at 6 p.m. is a zoning meeting being held for Dr. Carr. March 14th at 7 p.m. is a planning meeting for the parks. They will discuss engineering of the recreational trail and restroom prints. Playground updates will not begin until after ball season. Erin Minor is working on a grant application for funding of projects at the shelter house for pick nick tables etc. The paving bid goes out tomorrow. Roads near Indian Heights will be paved this summer. Williams street is currently on hold for one year. The town is working on adding sidewalks to streets that don’t have them.
Chamber News: Amanda noted she is able to get a free subscription to a CRM program. This will enable the chamber to send out email blasts to members of the chamber for annual renewals and other chamber news. The chamber was in favor of this change. March 13th is the annual awards banquet. The press releases have been out for a couple of weeks. This year the chamber is awarding 2 scholarship winners.
Merchants Association: The circus will be held May 17th. The merchants association is looking for a business to donate a large amount of tickets to the school. The Bunny Hop is going to be March 12th from 9:00-11:45a.m. The parade will start at Brockman Furniture. The bicycle giveaway will be at 11:45 a.m. at the library. Sue noted 20,000 coupon books for mercer county businesses were printed and distributed. If a business would like to have a coupon in the book the cost is $200 for a chamber member and $225 for a non-chamber member.
Project Recovery/Historical Society: The 3 murals are in production and expected to be completed by the 2016 Jubilee. The banners are up around town and look great.
Veterans Monument: The committee has the approval from the state to proceed. They hope to be completed with the project by the 225 Celebration.
Mercer Health: Mandy reported Mercer Health has their Mercer Health Living Expo this weekend Saturday, March 5th from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Celina Galleria. She also announced that Mercer Health is adding on a 3 story section to the hospital.
Jay County Hospital: Vicki announced Jay County Hospital has their annual health fair April 30th. They will have several screenings available at the health fair this year.
Mad Run: The Mad Run will take place May 21st this year at the Ambassador Park. The current cost is $40 per person and the price will increase tomorrow to $50.
