The Fort Recovery Chamber of Commerce met in regular session on June 27th, 2023 at Wendel BBQ.
Members Present: Sue Heiser, Thomas Shaw, Eric Brackman, Randy Diller, Ted Romer, Shawn Robinson, Lisa Niekamp-Urwin, Ryan Guggenbiller, Larry Brown, Amy Wendel
Secretary Report: Lisa made a motion to approve the previous month meeting minutes, seconded by Sue.
Treasurers Report: Checking account beginning balance $4,180.76. Disbursements totaling $489.96 receipts
totaling $0.00, with an ending balance of $3,690.80 Cash on hand is $5.00 and the Fort Recovery Scholarship Fund
is $8,371.38 for a grand total of $12,067.18. Ted made a motion to approve, seconded by Randy
Chamber –
Old Business: Jeneration Fitness Ribbon Cutting happened.
New Business:

  • Renewal letters and New Potential letters were sent out for Chamber and Merchant members
  • Chambers Banquet will be March 10th at the Elementary/Middle School Auditorium
  • Thobe’s Carryout sold to Chad & Jenna Tobe and is now Tobe’s Carryout
    Village: Gwendolyn Reconstruction project bid this week
  • Awarded a $1.25 million (ARPA funds) for a 2nd water tower to go up on the North side of town.
  • Traffic Signal at 119/49 is still being reviewed by ODOT
  • July 15th
    is the St Clair Run
  • July 16th is the National Night Out at the Pool/Community Park with the Touch a Truck
  • July 28/29th is Tractor Pulls
    School: Aimee Pottkotter was named the Athletic/Facilities Director
    Other People have shifted around…
  • Tony Stahl, Superintendent, Ryan Steinbrunner, High School Principal; Holly Gann, Middle School
    Principal, Laura Brandt (new) Elementary Principal; Deanna Knapke, treasurer (current), Stacy Laux
    moving to more transportation.
    Merchants: Working at the Tractor Pulls and WOW
    Jubilee: Getting the last of the bills to see how things turn out. Had good crowds and tried lots of new things.
    Ambassadors: Tractor Pulls July 28/29th
  • Working on an Eclipse Event – thinking about getting the lunch stand and such open.
    Athletic Boosters:
    WOW: Pre Event 50/50 is available online, Tow-N-Go Raffle tickets available yet and some non electric camp sites.
    Historical Society & Project Recovery: One of a Kind Auction – October 22nd
  • In the process of renovating the Visitors Center, Painting, new roof, and interior
    Community Foundation: Approved Grant distribution May 30th, scholarship funds were up.
    OTHER news: – Mercer County ESC Business Advisory Council Kick off and Idea Exchange will be held at the ESC on
    August 3, 2023 from 7:30 – 9: 30 AM (see attached) and RSVP if you are interested by July 14
