Regular Meeting

April 29, 2019

The Fort Recovery Chamber of Commerce met in regular session on Monday, April 29 at Brick Street Tavern.

Members Present: Connor Rammel, Joe Faller, Ted Romer, PG Jellison, Leah Koesters, Sue Heiser & Megan Steinberg

The meeting was called to order by President, Connor Rammel.

Secretary Report: A motion was made by Joe Faller to approve the minutes of the March meeting; seconded by PG Jellison.

Treasurers Report: No report was available this month.

Old Business:

Merchants:

The Bunny Hop was a success with over 500 kids in attendance and over 6000 eggs.

New Business:

FR School:

There are several changes in positions at Fort Recovery Schools. Brent Niekamp was named the new Ft. Recovery Athletic Director.  Tracy Hein Evers is transferring to the Ft. Recovery Choral Department. Justin Firks is leaving the school district and the school is hiring for his position.  

Merchants:

The merchants next meeting is May 21, 2019. Taste of the Town will take place June 13 downtown on the brick street. There will be 13 vendors. The merchants and chamber members are looking for volunteers to sell tickets at this event. The Merchants Cruise In will take place May 9 downtown on the brick street.

Jubilee:

The Fort Recovery Jubilee will take place this year June 12-June 16. The Jubilee will commence at 5 pm on June 16.

Ambassadors:

The Ohio State Benefit Pull will take place May 31-June 1 at 7:00 p.m. at the Fort Recovery Ambassador Park.

The Fort Recovery NTPA Grand Nationals will take place July 26 & 27 at 7:00 p.m. at the Fort Recovery Ambassador Park.

Historical Society:

Student Council laid fresh mulch around the museum and parks today.

Community Foundation:

Will hold a meeting this week to present recommendations to the board for award recipients.

Chamber:

Ted volunteered to organize the Business and Industry Tours again this year. He is looking into offering tours at different locations. It was noted to ask Schmitt Fur Farms.

The Chamber’s next meeting is scheduled for May 20, a week earlier due to Memorial Day.

Village:

May 4th is Spring Clean Up. Please see the list of items Maharg will not pickup.  May 30-June 1 is scheduled for Fort Recovery Community Garage Sales.

Museum:

May 5th is opening day of museum season. From 12-3 p.m. the museum is hosting tours of the 15 new wayside exhibits as well as online battlefield tour demonstrations. At 1 p.m. a ceremony for the dedication of the wayside exhibits will take place with Chris Thompson presenting. Diane Hunter will present at 3 p.m. about the wars and treaties and their impact on the area.

Ted Romer made a motion to adjourn.

The next meeting is scheduled for May 20  @ Brick Street.
